About JAZ Fanara Resort

JAZ Fanara Resort is a 5-star seafront resort in Ras Um El Sid, Sharm el-Sheikh. It has a private beach, pools, restaurants, a bar, a spa and a gym. Children have a club, a pool and a playground. The front desk is open around the clock, but the resort has no parking. Wi-Fi is free in the common areas.

Location

The resort is in Ras Um El Sid, 300 m from the Al Fanar lighthouse. The Sharm el-Sheikh Old Market is 2.7 km away as the crow flies, Naama Bay 7.1 km and the airport 16 km. A shuttle service is available, at extra cost.

Shark and Yolanda Reef, at Ras Mohammed, are 15 km away as the crow flies. The Dunraven wreck is 25 km away and the Thistlegorm 39 km. You reach them by boat from the Sharm harbors.

Rooms

Standard rooms measure 15 m² and face the garden. Superior rooms measure 25 m², with a view of the garden, the pool or the sea. Deluxe family rooms measure 35 m² and face the garden. All of them have a double bed or two beds. The Junior Suite measures 75 m², with a double bed and a sea view.

Rooms have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a minibar, a kettle and a safe. The bathroom has a shower and a hairdryer. Some rooms have a terrace.

Dining

Breakfast is a buffet, with a gluten-free option. For other meals, the resort has several restaurants, a bar and a snack bar. There are kids' menus. Special diets are catered for on request.

Leisure

The pools, including one for children, are open year-round. Pool towels are provided. The spa offers a steam room, a sauna, a hot tub and massages, at extra cost. You can play tennis, table tennis and darts, or try archery. In the evening, an entertainment team puts on shows. The nightclub costs extra.

Dive sites nearby

You can snorkel on site. Diving is also booked on site, at extra cost. For the big sites, Sharm dive centers run day trips by boat. Boats to Ras Mohammed leave from Naama Bay or Sharm el-Maya, a bay 2.8 km from the resort. Shark and Yolanda Reef are one hour to an hour and a half away by boat.

The Dunraven wreck takes an hour and a half to two hours by boat. It is almost always combined with a Ras Mohammed site. The Thistlegorm is also a day trip. Hotel pickup is around 3 a.m., for three hours of sailing.

Book at least a Superior room. The Standard is only 15 m², which is small for two divers and their gear. Book the Thistlegorm trip before you arrive: it only runs two or three times a week.
